Beacon of Hope Scholarship

beacon-of-hope-award-6We are proud to announce Josh Rovira as the recipient of the 2017 Beacon of Hope Scholarship. The ceremony was held today at St. Pauls School in Covington, LA. The scholarship was presented by Reagan Hill, President of Reagan’s Peanut Butter Project, and Thomas Domingues, Staff Accountant at Ain’t Life Grand Investments.

The Beacon of Hope Scholarship was established by Reagan’s Peanut Butter Project, a nonprofit organization created by current student, Reagan Hill and St. Paul’s alumnus Chris McDonald. Their mission is to bring hope to others through acts of kindness and service.

This award is given to a sophomore who is involved in three or more extracurricular activities including Lasallian Youth Leaders and/or Key Club.  The recipient must enjoy the opportunity of service and be current on service hours. Additionally, this person must demonstrate a strong Christian faith.  The recipient must exude kindness, compassion, positivity, and be a beacon of hope for others.

In addition to the $500 scholarship, the recipient, in conjunction with Reagan’s Peanut Butter Project, will have the opportunity to plan and perform an act of service with $250. Together, they will show others that hope is the greatest stimulant in life.

McDaniel will be stepping into the role of Director of Purchasing for Ain’t Life Grand Investments. She brings over 30 years of experience in the Food and Beverage industry and the knowledge needed to control the ever changing climate of products and pricing. Janet has excelled in the food distribution business working with Southern Food Service, Sysco, and US Foods followed by gaining experience in national account sales and purchasing. During her last 6 years, Janet played a vital role as the Director of Purchasing for Newk’s Eatery during their growth from 19 restaurants in 4 states to 60 restaurants in 17 states.

“Over the last year we have been restructuring by adding internal companies to handle marketing, management, properties, finance, and food & bev.” said founder Chris McDonald. “Janet will round out our team by bringing her knowledge and experience in purchasing. We plan to grow to 50 units over the next 8 years and now with the right people in place that goal is achievable.”

Unique food and giving back is what Glory Bound Gyro Co. is all about. Located at 101 20th Street South, the newest addition to the Glory Bound brand in Birmingham opened its doors for business on Tuesday, August 18th.

After hosting their “Eat Good, Give Back” soft opening fund raising event the weekend before, Glory Bound Gyro Co. and their nonprofit, Making Life Grand, were able to raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Advocacy Center: Prescott House and Railroad Park. “Our Birmingham opening was a great experience,” said Sam McAlister, Marketing Director for Ain’t Life Grand Investments. “Everyone who dined with us over the weekend loved the “Eat Good Give Back” experience and were very excited to have Glory Bound as a new dining option in Birmingham.” Tuesday morning during the opening day ribbon cutting ceremony Glory Bound founders and staff presented a check to the Prescott House and Railroad Park in the amount of $4,179.24.

This opening will mark Glory Bound’s third location. The weekend of July 17-19, Glory Bound will host their “Eat Good, Give Back” fund-raising event. The Glory Bound Gyro Co- Covington location will seat approximately 110 guests with both inside and outside dining.
